Anaesthetic Monitoring

It is important that animals are closely monitored when they are under a general anaesthetic. Whilst it is true that the most important piece of equipment is between the anaesthetist’s ears, it helpful to have a range of monitors to use. At Alma we have the following available: Pulse Oximeter -measures the pulse rate and oxygen level in the blood Capnograph measures the carbon dioxide level in expired breath and this correlates to the blood carbon dioxide level.

Anaesthetic agent monitor-measures the amount of anaesthetic vapour in expired breath and this indicates the amount of anaesthetic in the blood stream ECG monitor -displays the the ECG in real time Body temperature -is continuously monitored during surgery
